What is a podcast?

Podcast is a combination of iPod and broadcast. It is like a radio (or TV) broadcast, but it's on the internet, and you can download and listen to it (or watch it) any time you want, on your computer or on your iPod or other MP3 player. You can also subscribe to podcasts and have them downloaded automatically to your player with a podcatcher.

Wherever you see the iTunes icon you can subscribe in one click through iTunes. If you do not have iTunes, you will be able to download it at no cost after you click the link to subscribe.

What do I need to play a podcast?

Any audio software that will play MP3 files. Your computer probably came with software already installed. If you are running Windows, you should have Windows Media Player; if you are on a Mac, you will have iTunes.

If you don't have a player, or don't like the one you have, here are a few of the most popular, free to download.

What do I need to subscribe to a podcast?

You need a podcatcher. iTunes is podcatcher and player all in one. If you are using Windows Media player or another piece of audio software, you will need a separate podcather. Lots of these are available for free download too. Here are a few of the most popular.

Do I need an iPod?

No! You can listen to podcasts on your iPod, on any other MP3 player, or on your computer.
