As a child's first teachers, parents have a great influence on early literacy skills. Learn what you can do at home to help your child master important pre-reading skills that will help ensure successful preschool and kindergarten learning experiences. In this hands-on session, parents will practice powerful (but easy-to-learn) techniques that are fun to incorporate into everyday reading time. Each family has a "Language of the Heart," which is the language that your family speaks at home. Our children go to school and grow up with children who speak many different languages. Celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our community by bringing the entire family to one or all of our Language of the Heart storytimes. Enjoy stories, songs, rhymes and fingerplays in your native language or come because you would like your children to listen and learn about other languages and cultures. Each program will be presented by the Library's own storyteller, Sue Sutton, and a native language speaker. All storytimes are from 7 - 7:30 PM in the Main Library Youth Services Activity Center.
