Teacher Cards

The Library is now offering a special use Teacher Library Card to any K-12 teacher in a public or private school eligible to receive West Bloomfield Library outreach visits. These schools are:

West Bloomfield School District: Doherty Elementary Ealy Elementary Green Elementary Gretchko Elementary Roosevelt Elementary School Scotch Elementary Abbott Middle School Orchard Lake Middle School West Bloomfield High School Bloomfield School District: Lone Pine Elementary Pine Lake Elementary

Walled Lake School District: Keith Elementary Maple Elementary Pleasant Elementary Twin Beach Elementary Walnut Creek Middle School Farmington School District: Eagle Elementary Private: Jewish Academy Our Lady of Refuge

Applicants must submit proof of identification and a Teacher Library Card application that includes the signature of the school principal.

The card expires annually on August 31.

Card Responsibilities

• Use of the Teacher Library Card must support school operations and lesson planning. It is not for the personal needs of the teacher.
• The established Library fines and fees schedule and library loan rules must be followed.
• Accrued fines and fees are the responsibility of the teacher/school system.
• Overdue notices are sent to the teacher at the school. All outstanding fines and fees must be paid at the end of the school year.

Teacher Card Privileges

• All circulating library materials, with the exception of adult feature videos and DVD’s, are available for teacher loan. There is a one (1)-renewal limit on items eligible for renewal.
• Teachers may call in advance to have items selected by a librarian.
• There is a maximum limit of 20 items checked out on the card at any given time.
• Teacher cardholders are entitled to place hold and request interlibrary loan requests.
• Teacher cardholders are entitled to remote access to the Library’s databases. The access is granted for single use by the teacher within the school building only. It is not to be used for classroom instruction purposes.
