| Accessibility and Outreach | Accessibility: Both the Main Library and the Westacres Branch are ADA compliant and provide barrier-free access
|  | For Blind and Visually Impaired Patrons: The ADA Computer Workstation at the Main Library is reserved for blind, visually impaired and print-disabled patrons. It is loaded with Jaws, Kurzweil, Dragon Naturally Speaking and ZoomText, and features a 21" LCD monitor and a document scanner.We also have large print books and unabridged audiobooks in a variety of formats: on CD, MP3 on CD, downloadable (.wma) and digital audiobooks (self-contained book and player). 
|  | Hearing Impaired Patrons: A sign language interpreter is available by request for programs and events. Assisted listening devices are available for use in the Main meeting room. TDD users can contact the library at 248-232-2292. 
|  | Homebound Services: The Library mails materials to patrons who are unable to come to the Library because of illness or disability, either temporary or long-term. The Library pays the return postage.
|  | Outreach Services: The Library makes monthly visits to nursing homes, extended care facilities and senior apartments in West Bloomfield Township to provide residents with a wide selection of printed materials. Librarians also present booktalks at senior facilities.The Senior Edition newsletter contains news about Library services and features articles about health, consumer tips and other topics of interest to seniors. |
